Goodbye Galleys!
Sorry to have taken so long to check in. But, for some strange reason, the family felt I should spend some time with them (that is, OFF the computer) after my weekend holed up in a hotel. :)
Ahhhh....the weekend. It was VERY productive. Tomorrow FedEx will whisk the galleys up to New York. I am done, done, done with I So Don't Do Mysteries! Which I'm glad about. I am. Really. Truly. Really. It's time to let go. Time to move on. I know it.
However, I'm sure the Postal Annex lady will have to pry the package out of my hands tomorrow morning. It'll be that last-minute panic before I send my baby out into the world. How many commas did I miss? Couldn't I have tweaked such and such a metaphor? Was Sherry wearing too much makeup in the last chapter? All I can say is--please be kind to her. And friendly and understanding. Please show her some love.
On a technical note: the font is Officina Serif. I usually prefer a plumper font, but this one fits the book perfectly.
Back to book #2 in the a.m.
Have a great day!
ohhhh..how exciting! Way to go!!!!
ReplyDeleteDeep breath and let the package sore!!!!
YAY!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for you. :)
Heidi
It will be fine!
ReplyDeleteBut, yeah, it's your creation (your baby) and it's so hard to let go that final time.
Yay you!
ReplyDeleteAnd good luck on your second book!
I know exactly how you feel (but probably on a lesser scale). When I mailed out my short stories, I was about to panic. "Did I miss something? Do all the clues make sense? Did it rap up nicely? Did I get my commas in proper places (my worst part about english)."
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for you, now I want to read it.
But just think how much fun you'll have in December when you pick it up off the shelf and start line editing!
ReplyDeleteGood job and you even did it without me this time. LOL! I am sure DH did a wonderful job with the kids while you were gone. Good luck on the 2nd book. Maybe I shold come this summer to make sure it is a success as well. :) xo

Yay. Glad to hear that the weekend went well and the book is out the door. Onwards and upwards!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! What a feeling to mail that off. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a comfort to have book #2 waiting and wanting your attention, Barrie. At least you won't be an empty-nester. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! It's like sending your kids off to college--very exciting for everyone involved, but also a little sad.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool! Congrats on getting it done. And I'm sure the book is so riveting that no one would noticed a misplaced comma even if there were one.
ReplyDeleteHow very cool....now for the long wait til December. I can't wait for it to come out. I love ghosts and mysteries. The San Diego Wild Animal Park is pretty cool too (or at least it was when I visited it back in .... hmmmm .... I think 1974)

Yipee!
ReplyDeleteThis is worth celebrating.
Toasting my glass of lukewarm tea, in place of champagne.
Congrats on your productive weekend, Barrie! And omg but it's not *that* long till December, is it?!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy and excited for you!! This is just so wonderful.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Hand your package over and wait for the magic to begin. I can't wait!!
XOXO
ohhh....so jealous of you...to be a writer...what a dream !
ReplyDeleteCongrats on all your hard work !!
I also loved Juno...haven't talked to a single soul yet who didn't have wonderful things to say about that movie...wasn't the DAD fabulous ???
thanks for stopping by and saying HI !
Congrats on sending your baby off into the world, Barrie! Woohoo.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being finished! :)
ReplyDeleteHurray on finishing!!!!!! Your release day will be here before you know it.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting it done, Barrie. And I'm sure both the font and the amount of makeup worn by your character will be perfect. :-)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!! :)
ReplyDeleteWow! Congrats on everything you are getting done! That sounds wonderful in every way.
ReplyDeleteCongrats and I love the font! Looked it up on font.com. It's a very light serif almost sans serif. Love the "l" especially. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteI'm hooked on fonts. This one is saying "take me home." Or I could wait and buy your book and enjoy it there, right??
