On Santa Claus and cookies and baby showers

Child #4 has let loose of the Santa Claus issue. And, I being a wimpy mother, am not pursuing the unmasking of the jolly old elf.

Instead, she is concentrating her seven-year-old energies on the delivery and collection of monies for Girl Scout cookies. She has sold more Thin Mints than any other cookie. If she draws a bar graph of her sales, I'll post it for your bloggy pleasure.

She is also thrilled to be attending a baby shower later on today. The shower is for a baby boy who arrived a couple of weeks ago from Korea. Also Chlld #4's birthplace. Who knows what words of wisdom she will pass onto the eight month old. I do know she is looking forward to eating cake.

And....the delightful Mirth in Manchester's Sally Lawton has dedicated a post to me on the subject of jammie dodgers. Thank you, Sally, for the sweet honor. (pun intended)

Tomorrow, I will be participating in Travis Erwin's My Town Monday. I've written an interesting post on Harbor Seals and San Diego.

I'm anticipating a call from the City of San Diego. No doubt they're planning to name a street or a bridge or a fish taco after me for singlehandedly increasing tourism in our town. Tomorrow's post will be, after all, my second about San Diego.

  1. Let me know if the board of tourism calls... that would be interesting. LOL

I've lived in SD for YEARS and I still haven't gone to Coronado. You could write a post on what to do there. :)

AND the Santa thing may be catching. My son asked me about him today...!

  2. I swear it's the Easter Bunny who's responsible for all these questions...

Oh yes, Coronado would be a great post. Even several posts. I think you should go to Coronado. With your camera. We could each do a post. :)

And what are you doing up so late?! :)

  3. I really, really wish the Brownies and Girl Scouts here sold Thin Mints. I would buy so many boxes.
    (Maybe it's a good thing they don't....)

  6. My girls use to be Scouts, how I miss those cookie days!! They always sold so many thin mints. One man always bought enough for the whole year, he froze them. That would not work here, they would not last the year.
Hope the show was fun for all!!

    XOXO

  7. MMMM cookies! And isn't the best part of a baby shower the cake? Wait, maybe it's holding the baby and then passing it back! LOL!

  8. It is the easter bunny followed closely by the tooth fairy. I mean c'mon a rabbit and someone who collects teeth? No wonder our kids question...no... oh oh.... wait a minute..... Reindeer fly? It is all very unbelievable, it is just the inquiring minds that want to know.

I think you are smart to avoid the discussion as long as you can. You might squeek one more year out of her!!!

  10. Hey, Barrie, LOVED the seal photo - it looks like a puppy! Good article too. Child #4 is SEVEN??? When did that happen? I'm busy lining up buyers for your book. Diane's grandchild is going to be 12 - perfect! Will you autograph the book for her? Loving your blog.
