The First-Ever Book Signing

Thank you so much for all the support! It's been very amazing and wonderful. xo

Last night's book signing went very well. I actually had lots of fun. Who would've thought I'd enjoy chatting with strangers about kidlit? And then signing my book for them?!!

There's a little more detail at the Class of 2k8's blog. Plus a picture of an unexpected mystery guest.

Barrie and fellow blogger San Diego Momma who is incredibly cool!

Guess who else showed up? Blogger San Diego Momma. She is cute, fun, interesting. And she has a really nice dh and adorable kids. And she has a tres fancy camera. In short, San Diego Momma has it all! I even forgive her for looking so much better than me in the photo. Oh, and, thank you to Vodka Mom for introducing us in the blogosphere.

Okay. I'm getting a little sick of talking about myself, so I'll only share a couple more things. I teared up in my local Barnes & Noble today when they told me they had to order a bunch more I So Don't Do Mysteries. I cried when Bookseller Sue Ellen told me she was handselling the book because she'd read it and it was fantastic.

All that crying; Child #2 was fit to be tied. Can I just point out I generally don't cry so it was fairly new territory for him.

I'm wisening up, though. When Mary from The Yellow Book Road mentioned on the phone that they'd done a really nice display with I So Don't Do Mysteries and did I want to come in and see it, I replied:

I'd love to, but I just redid my mascara.

I loved loved loved meeting you, Barrie!

The display was wonderful, the book was selling like hot cakes and you were so friendly and generally awesome.

I am SO glad the book is doing so well just one day out. You deserve all the success and I hope it just keeps going up and up (of course, you may want to invest in some waterproof mascara).

Also, I've only been able to read a few pages so far (I have to finish my drat book club book for our meeting tonight), but from the first chapter, I can tell your book is fantastic. I love the voice of Sherry.

Congratulations!

I actually went to a reading of an author friend a few months back at the Mysterious Galaxy book store. Cool little place!

And congratulations on such a great book launch! I really want to get a copy soon.

HEY! The word verification word I got was guess! A real word! That's never happened to me before. I've come close to a real word, but never got a genuine, real word! Wonder if there is a message in there...

I bought your book at Monkey Boy's school fundraiser at Barnes & Noble. There were only 2 copies at my local B&N so I put the other copy face out on the shelf then I told all my friends that I "knew" you. I went back a few minutes later and the other copy was gone. I guess my B&N will have to order more copies too! Yeah you! I'm so happy your book has done so well. Congratulations!!! You deserve it.

Yay for you, Barrie!!!
And I LOVE Mary from YBR. We met last year at an Abrams shindig, and couldn't stop chatting. I had SO hoped to get out to her store for a signing. Put in a good word for me, eh?

Wow, haven't been back here for a bit and the site is all so different from the old black background one.

Very nice layout.

Picked up your book from Amazon for my eight year old daughter. Maybe a bit ahead for her, but she can read it when she wants.

Good luck and congrats for all you've done.

Good for You! All wonderful news! I can see my copy from here on my couch. My TBR pile is more like an archeological site, but I'm going to break into it soon. I must if I hope to get it read and wrapped for the niece before Xmas : )
