I'm Baaaack!!
Hurray! Hurray! A million hurrays!
I handed in I So Don't Do Makeup on time! I love you little book, but we need a break from each other. Now, it's Editor Wendy's turn to work her magic!
My family is very very happy. They felt I was paying far too much attention to Sherry and her family and not enough to them. Ha!
I'm a creature of habit and I'm loving getting back to all my little routines.
Like the gym, which I have totally missed. And reading. My TBR pile was about to crush San Diego. I've already chosen a book for the June Book Review Club. I know what I'm posting for next week's MTM. I'm getting together with friends this weekend.
And I'm CATCHING UP on INCREDIBLY FUN chores like picking up extra rubber bands from the orthodontist for Child #3, ordering piano sheet music for Child #2, practicing multiplication facts with Child #4, messing with the solar cover for the pool, tackling mounds of laundry and dust and bills. Motherhood is not all kisses and bonding. It's hard work.
Of course, I deserve a reward or two for turning the book in on time.
BTW, if you received a phone text from me today calling you a poopyhead, IT WASN'T REALLY FROM ME. Child #4 was a little too quiet in the car on the way to swim team. I should've known something was up!
Congratulations Barrie. I'll bet that's a huge relief!
ReplyDeleteAh, that explains the poopyhead. I will go ahead and add you back to my blog list. And congrats on the book!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! Enjoy your "alternate" reality while you can.
ReplyDeleteWhen do you start the next book???
Congrats on getting the book out the door!
ReplyDeleteBeth: I'm not exactly sure when I need to start the next book, but it's soon. I'll still have revisions, copy edits, etc on Makeup. So, I'm guessing I'll be writing a new one while wrapping up the old (hard to think of Makeup as old!!). But, uh, not today. ;)
ReplyDeletehooray!
ReplyDeletewelcome back! missed your fun posts. ...and don't worry you are not the only one to spend money on ugly shoes and have a DH that complains about it. i live for comfort not style!
ReplyDeleteYea for the book!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I wondered what I had done to make you call me a poopyhead! (Kidding)
Ah, reality. Nothing like it, huh?
Good for you! Can't wait to catch up with all your news.
ReplyDeleteLOL on the cellphone! Welcome back & congrats on getting the manuscript OUT! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being done, and being back to normal life!
ReplyDeleteI'd so love a text saying I'm a poopyhead. That would definitely be smileworthy.
ReplyDeleteAnd I like those sandals, ugly though they may be. They look comfy.
Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteYou definitely deserve the sushi. And a bottle of nice wine too.
I like the shoes.
Congrats on the book and welcome back to your real life!! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on finishing! That must feel so nice! Way to treat yourself!
ReplyDeletelol @ child #4 best text message ever, wish I wouldve thought of that.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on finishing the book on time, Barrie. Glad you're back to posting. I missed you.
ReplyDeleteI had sushi today and I didn't even turn in a book.
ReplyDeletecongrats on getting it out.
Exciting news, Barrie!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that you will now have a breather (?) to do some of the fun and un-fun things in life.
Yay you! You are an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteCongrats. Rest while you can and get your mind geared for another one.
ReplyDeletewb barrie, and yeah... you DO know ugly :O lol
ReplyDeleteWelcome welcome back! That sushi looks amazing. I need to find a reason to reward myself with something like that....
ReplyDeleteYay I'm glad everything got turned in and you now have time to do the other things you love!! I'll have to try Keen... I just wore some sandals that just tore my feet up and now my feet are covered in bandaides! lol!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Barrie! I've always loved the way Keens look, but, alas, they are too wide for my narrow tootsies.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I'm very much looking forward to reading it. You deserve to treat yourself.
ReplyDeleteI've made my personal deadline and am now revising. Like you, kids and house chores have backed up.
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!! What a relief to have it done and off your desk...for a while. Savor the delicious taste of "well done" :-)
ReplyDeletewell, i can be a poopy head sometimes....
ReplyDeletecongrats on finishing your book! And wicked cute sandals, I am a little green with envy...
ReplyDeletehurrah! congrats! and i recognize a lot of the commenters here!! =D me, on the other hand. i need to buckle down and begin writing my sequel this weekend. i mean, move forward. wish me luck!
ReplyDeleteWelcome Back.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your sandals!! They're awesome!
ReplyDeleteAnd also congratulations on that book thingy too.
:-)
Congratulations! How exciting for you, and yes . . . your family is proud of you, too. ;o)
ReplyDeleteForget about the 'poopyhead' text issue. At least you figured it out before they called China, and ran up your cell bill to $500 like my twins did!
Silence is only a good thing where kids are not involved. ;o)
Angela
Barrie - so that house reno was kind of like what moms-to-be do just before the due date? You must feel great with that book written and out the door and I love the new sandals - and your humor!
ReplyDeleteWOO HOO!! I am mixing us up some martinis RIGHT NOW!!
ReplyDelete(and I'll get us some sushi from Wegman's. I LOVE it.)
Hooray for you, Barrie, on completing the book. Children are the neatest aren't they...darling child.

ReplyDeletethat sushi looks awesome!
Kudos on finishing up, Barrie. That's great news.
ReplyDeletevery yummy rainbow roll
ReplyDeleteHi Barrie,
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and I met you at the San Diego Childrens' Book Festival last month. I bought "I So Don't Do Mysteries" (for my older daughter, she loves coffee and has a tatoo) I wanted to buy her something fun, though she is 18! I just finished the book so I will give it to her now! Very fun story, great for that tween kid!!
So where on your blog or site do I find the June book club book?
Keen sandles look like something I would wear, I will google them.
I look forward to seeing you at another event in San Diego and reading the next Sherry novel.
I have to say this though...for those of us living in this area, as you do, what bothered me with the book was one scene particularly where Sherry gets from Old Town (talking to her mom at the Whaley House) back to the Hotel Del so easily...you don't say how she got back on her own, not an easy feat alone...right?
Also the jaunts from Wild Animal Park to Coronado typically can involve a lot of traffic, it felt like she was going from the Zoo to Coronado, a easier trip to manage. Though I know for artistic license we must embelish(SP)!!
Sorry my post is so long, first timer here.
