Sisters

Here's my adorable little sister. Of course, she's all grown up now. She's a mother, a wife, a teacher. But she'll always be my little sister. (Whether she likes it or not.)

A sister is a little bit of childhood that can never be lost. ~Marion C. Garretty

Having a sister is like having a best friend you can't get rid of. You know whatever you do, they'll still be there. ~Amy Li

You can kid the world. But not your sister. ~Charlotte Gray

Brothers and sisters are as close as hands and feet. ~Vietnamese Proverb

And here's a quotation that is true, true, true:

Who sees to it that my head stays the right size? ~Pam Brown

My sister and her three daughters arrive at the airport in two hours, 50 minutes. The house is cleaned. The beds are made. A few meals are planned and in the freezer. Even Dorothy the Dog is groomed and sporting pink bows around her ears.

I AM BEYOND EXCITED!

This week's My Town Monday post will be about whatever we end up doing on Monday. Maybe even just lolling around the pool!

Here we are, the three sisters. We're on a boat in Muskoka, Ontario. It's a summer many moons ago!

EDITED TO ADD: It's 1:00 a.m., and my sister and I are finally going to bed. We've been talking for about 3 hours. We barely stopped to take a breath. Tomorrow? More of the same!

  1. Have fun with your sister and nieces, Barrie. I only had one brother growing up, but as I watched my three daughters grow, I really enjoyed the camraderie of their sisterhood. Can't wait for you MTM post!

  2. I have no sisters. Only stinky brothers. But wait! I have one brother that my children refer to as "mom's sister". He has enough drama for a houseful of sisters. We are super close and both very emotional (I once gave him a birthday card that made him cry!). I may be lacking in the sister department, but my brother does a pretty good job.

I have longed for a sibling to share a close relationship all my life! You are lucky.

  6. ...and all I have is a brother, who amuses me, but is otherwise useless.

  7. I never had a younger sibling. I got bullied enough by my older ones, though. I'm sure you never bullied your sister! ;)

  8. Barrie - Sisters are truly wonderful. I have one sibling, a younger sister. A few years, we started this goofy thing. When we have been together and then one of us is driving away, we wave and yell "SLF" which of course means Sisterly Love Forever. It's ultimate cheese and my kids love to tease me! Hope you have a great time.

  9. Oh I am always jealous of women with real life sisters. I have adopted ones, sadly my real one and I would have no trouble going to bed without staying up late talking.
