So NOT a cook...

What is this, you ask?

Microwaved mac and cheese . . . when no water is added!

Child #3, what were you thinking?

(Perhaps we'd be wise to change his high school elective from Spanish to cooking class!)

And guess what? I'm guest-blogging again! Today I'm over at Adventures in Children's Publishing talking about getting published.

Just your run-of-the-mill post. Or not. Mwahahaha!

  2. I thought either disected worms or Klingon Gakk.

  3. I thought it was worms, too, and wondered if your children were doing experiments with alternative protein sources or perhaps cooking for the veiled chameleon.

  4. Charles and Teresa: I was going to photoshop the picture to take out the bowl and only leave the charred noodles. It would've really looked like worms then!

  5. Ha! Now that looks like something I would do. Writers should never be cooks. The list of things I've burnt or pots blackened while the water boils away...

I love that your daughter commented.

  6. At first glance I thought it was a pot of worms for the chameleons!
Buy your son Joy of Cooking for his next birthday - he may not appreciate it now but some day!

  7. That's hilarious. I thought it was worms or maggots at first glance. I can just imagine the smell in your kitchen. LOL

  9. Sarah: I thought it was so cute that she commented too. I didn't realize what she was up to.

  10. Beth: I think each child should learn to cook one decent dinner. This could be a summer goal. Of mine, anyway!

  11. Maureen: The smell was DREADFUL! and getting it out of the microwave was no mean feat!!!

  14. My mom forced my brother to learn to cook during his last two years of high school (after I had left home and could no longer fill in for her in the kitchen when she worked late--like almost every day). He hated it then, but he appreciates her efforts now as a 48 year old bachelor. By the time he left home, he could make all his favorite dishes: spaghetti, ham, steak, hamburgers, and meat loaf with vegetables and salad on the side. He could also make some not so favorite dishes, but I don't think he cooks those much any more.
